This 1-day
non-certificated course in Long Range Communications including SSB &
Satellite communications targeted toward the bluewater yachtsman.
You
will be shown how to obtain the best performance out of your SSB radio and
demonstrations of equipment will be given.
We can train you on either
the ICOM M801 or M710 or FURUNO FS-1550 and show you how to receive SSB email
and weatherfax broadcasts. Mobile satellite communications including satellite
phones will be covered in the full day course.

- General SSB knowledge and MF/HF propagation
- Capabilities and limitations of SSB communications
- MF/HF radio propagation
- Use of SSB MF/HF equipment in practice.
- Types of information you can receive using SSB
equipment
- Marine SSB operation, frequencies and services
- Mobile Satellite Communications (Sat phones and
Inmarsat)
We also give technical advice on SSB
installation and show you how to get the best out of your equipment. YachtCom
can also provide the leads to go between your SSB radio and computer along with
the software you require.
What to bring Students may wish to
bring along manuals for their own equipment or if planning to install SSB email
or weatherfax software, their PC.
